InnovAGE

InnovAGE aims to provide more diverse career opportunities for early-career scientists working in the aging space who are interested in entrepreneurship. The program is a paid, semester-long commitment (in addition to academic research responsibilities).

InnovAGE fellows will gain business skills including competitive analysis, analytical marketing, regulatory strategy, reimbursement strategy, intellectual property and other legal matters, and financing a venture.

The InnovAGE Fellowship Program

The UMass Lowell InnovAGE Fellowship Program is an experiential biotech and medtech learning opportunity for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers working in the fields of aging and aging-related diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.

We're thrilled to announce the success of our third cohort. In our latest November 2025 cohort, the InnovAGE Program proudly welcomed students from Texas Tech University, University of Southern Mississippi, Anna University, and UMass Chan Medical School.

“The InnovAGE program bridged the gap between scientific research and business. Coming from a non-business background, I gained critical insights into business models, fundraising, and translating research into viable opportunities. Weekly sessions with industry leaders and one-on-one mentorship refined my pitch deck for 'FitMAb,' an immunotherapy for obesity treatment. InnovAGE transformed how I present ideas—focusing on business potential—and prepared me for entrepreneurship. I highly recommend it!”

“I thought the InnovAGE program was really focused on meeting you where you are and helping, you know, from app development all the way through something more biotech focused. We did a lot of work on customer discovery. I learned the questions that I need to ask to move forward. And I got some answers, but mostly I just learned how to start asking intelligent questions. I think that was the most helpful thing for me. The InnovAGE follow up is absolutely incredible.”
